Concept

For the longest time, I have this weird obsession with hourglass because hourglass represent times in a novel way. The top part represent the future, the middle part represent the present, and the bottom part represent the past.

I consider hourglass as a magical object because, if I put the hourglass side way, the time stops. And if i flip the hourglass, the time flows backwards. This concept is used in some of novel and comic in Japanese and Korean culture. One of which that i reference for my 3d model is a korean manhwa called “The Villainess Reverse the Hourglass”. The hourglass in this manhwa (Korean comic) has a nice gold colour surrounded by a white background which gives it a magical and fancy vibe. In the story, the protagonist flipped the hourglass to reverse the time, which strongly relates with my concept.

To make this hourglass, I use another reference from Tinker Bell and The Lost Treasure movie for my artstyle. Specifically, the Hall of Scepter scene that full of pixie dust and wood. Using this scene as a reference, I plan to make a cartoonish style for my 3d model.

In addition to that, I reference a 3d model by Roman3d with how I arrange the model to circle around the Hourglass and make it the main character in this model. Another thing that I reference from this model is the material and how the model reflect light and the lighting arrangement on how it set a spotlight for the hourglass.
